I don’t want to sugar-coat how fucking painful, confusing, devastating and lonely it is to cut off a connection with someone. Even if you know they’re bad for you, it will tear you apart. Cutting away your attachment to them hurts like hell...but you WILL be better for it.
Please be kind to yourself. Don’t hate yourself because you crave someone who just isn’t worth your time, energy, affection or emotions. Love yourself even more because they can’t. It’s this toxic cycle of self-pity after a breakup that can propel people into dark depressions.
If you feel like your attachment to someone is so strong that you’re not able to cut them off, write a fucking list of everything they’ve ever done wrong to you. EVERYTHING.

Read it every single time you want to text them to remind you that you're making the right decision.
When you really like someone, are infatuated, attached and in LOVE, it's not as easy as just blocking them. No one wants to talk about how many times you will feel unsure. You will block and unblock and feel like absolute shit every single time.

THIS IS OKAY & YOU ARE NORMAL.
You are normal for hurting so much over cutting them off. Or being cut off. You are normal for feeling devastated, on the verge of crying every minute and empty. You WILL feel okay again one day but don’t feel like you’re fucking weak for having feelings. You’re not.
It is so scary, hard and lonesome to throw away a connection with someone. But if you found out that you had sickness that was KILLING you.. wouldn’t you do anything to treat the disease? Cut the sickness out, and start healing. The longer you leave it, the sicker you get.
THERE IS A LIGHT AT THE END OF THE TUNNEL; I promise you.

One day you’ll wake up and feel hopeful and understand everything you went through was so you could be where you are. You will almost cry tears of joy. Just trust that you’re not only going to be okay, you’ll be GREAT.
