For the record,
1) I am not receiving any grant funding for my COVID work, from Bill Gates, the Gates Foundation, or anyone else.
2) Many faculty are on 9 month salaries. Rather than taking grant funding I had for a non-COVID project, I'm working without pay on COVID all summer.

3) If I were funded by the Gates, that would be nothing to be ashamed of. Bill and Melinda Gates and the Gates Foundation have done enormous good for world health. The conspiracy theories around him, COVID, vaccines, microchips, 5G, and so forth are appalling.
