Here’s an updated thread that debunks the lies antis spread about Mamamoo and factually explains what really happened ⬇️
Disclaimer: No one is obligated to forgive Mamamoo for the things that actually happened. Furthermore, this thread is not excusing anything, but merely giving an explanation for why something happened. Things you don’t find here did happen and therefore do not need clarification.
This thread is going to be shockingly long, so I hope it makes you realise how f‘ed up stan twitter is, how far they will go to stop successful women, and I hope that it teaches you to be careful and to do your own research before you believe and/or spread something.
1. “They did blackface multiple times.”

Wrong, they did it once, apologised several times in a letter to the black community as well as in person at their concert the next day, and never did it again.
2. “But Solar did it again.” / “They uploaded a making of video after apologising.”

Wrong, Solar was dressed as a Korean beggar from the movie “Train to Busan” for an SNL sketch and had dirt on her face.
3. “Hwasa added the n-word to a song which doesn’t even have it.”

Wrong, she was given the lyrics of the explicit version of Irreplaceable, which has the n-word. She did and still does not speak English and read the lyrics off of MelOn without knowing the meaning of it.
Here is audible proof of Beyoncé singing the song:
4. “Hwasa said the n-word multiple times.”

Wrong, it was once in 2015.
5. “Hwasa wanted to scare ppl in a Nigerian traditional outfit.”

Wrong, & there are several things to unpack here. Firstly, she didn’t want to scare ppl, it was a mistranslation. Secondly, Nigerians (including locals) have come forward & said it’s not Nigerian. MBC’s statement:
Words from Nigerians
This is what Hwasa was actually wearing:
Full clip with correct translation
6. “Solar did CA and promoted skin whitening.”

Both wrong, it was a moisturiser. The ad says “Cleopatra’s secret to moisturised skin? Milk wash”. Regarding the CA: Cleopatra was a white European woman who merely lived in Egypt.
7. “Hwasa/Solar/Wheein/Moonbyul is dating x person.”

Generally always a lie. Antis have made it a habit to spread MMM dating rumours to distract from the fact that their faves f’ed up again.
8. “Hwasa is homophobic.”

Absolutely wrong, she never even said anything remotely homophobic. The VLIVE in the following made up translation did not happen. Hwasa did not do a livestream on that date.
Hwasa has kissed Solar and Moonbyul on the lips on camera, posed with a pride flag, and agreed to marry dozens of female fans. She also reacted positively to a female fan telling her that she’s there with her girlfriend.
9. “Moonbyul is misogynistic.”

I don’t even know where this came from. All she did was say that she wants to create an all-rounder girl group with creative freedom, “the female version of BTS”. Wanting creative freedom for women doesn’t seem misogynistic to me. +
If you followed her closely and paid attention to her lyrics and interviews, you’d know that she has a very feminist mindset and is one of the most popular seniors among female idols. Here are a few examples ⬇️
10. “Hwasa is misogynistic.”

No, all she did was say that she doesn’t like forced cute concepts & I think we can all agree that women shouldn’t be forced to act cute.
This interview shows that Hwasa is very much pro feminism:
and she loves women:
11. “Hwasa called herself “black unnie/black queen/African American”

Wrong, a fan called her that. Hwasa is the maknae, she is not an unnie to her members. You can also see that it is not even Hwasa’s handwriting. Also, OTHERS (not HS) said they thought she was African American.
12. “Mamamoo wore a bindi.”

No, it was an urna, which belongs to Buddhism. Solar is a Buddhist. Here are the lyrics they sing while wearing it:
13. “Solar wore a bindi.”

Again, no. She was wearing a traditional Korean wedding outfit.
14. “Moonbyul wore braids/dreads.”

This is not a black hairstyle no matter how hard you try. Those are white people braids.
15. “Solar wrote a rape storyline/promoted rape culture in the Décalcomanie MV and said she liked it.”

She didn’t write the storyline and they never meant to promote anything. After they realised that it could be taken the wrong way, the scene got deleted.
16. “Wheein compared Hwasa to a black person.”

Wrong, this tweet is very obviously photoshopped, as you can tell by the sharp edges on the photos. The real tweet is on the right.
17. “Solar listened to a song about homicide. She is a psychopath.”

How is listening to a song about homicide psycho behaviour? By that logic, everyone who enjoys watching crime, horror and similar genres would be a psychopath too.
18. “Wheein made a joke about a destructive typhoon.”

She made the post BEFORE the typhoon hit. When it became clear that it was dangerous, she deleted the post and apologised.
19. “Hwasa wore a durag.”

She did and here’s the explanation: She is a big fan of Rihanna, who previously promoted her Fenty durags using models of every race; therefore Hwasa did not know that it is offensive and that only black people should wear it.
20. “Hwasa wore a durag again.”

No, it was her backup dancers who changed their outfits last minute. The stage director took responsibility for this and said it was her idea and Hwasa had nothing to do with it. They apologised on Instagram:
