Shall we go into the ways in which it has manifested through this fandom’s complicated relationship with Finn?

Let’s talk about how JB has been vilified in this fandom to the point that Finn’s been bestialized in several fics as a result

One from a former fave of mine who has shown time and again that when held accountable, the white tears arise and the coddling begins

The narrative became hella Birth of a Nation.

He was an insidious Black man who knowingly wielded his big scary power against two young white girls.

It got so layered that even *I* got sucked in for a bit (of which I’m ashamed but admit bc that’s how accountability works)

Some may say that the backlash he got would have been the same if it had been any other man from the cast.

But let’s be real. There was an overwhelming amount of people that just seemed EAGER to hate him.

The entire situation was very VERY unfortunate. I definitely think he could have handled it better. But the truth is he was navigating from a standpoint none of us will ever understand

If he’d have been any other male cast member... he’d have been forgiven a lot quicker
