MISSING THE REAL MAHESH BABU

To @urstrulymahesh

We really miss the fluid Mahesh Babu. We miss getting excited for you films and performances.

Writing a constructively critical thread as an ardent fan of yours. This is gonna be as honest as it can get!

WHAT WENT WRONG WITH YOU? (1)

You seem to be very happy with just the moderate commercial successes. Post Srimanthudu you seem very uneasy in your performances. You’ve attained some kind of stiffness in your body language both on and off screen.

WHAT WENT WRONG WITH YOU? (2)

It also reflects in your television advertisements and magazine photoshoots. Why are you restricting yourself so much? Cinema is all about pushing your limits and exploiting the form according the best of your abilities and efforts.

SUCCESSES AND FAILURES (1)

Why do failures and successes affect you so much? You get so carried away by them. Commercial flops make you question yourself and your choices. You seem to examine what worked in your career before and proceed to try something similar.

SUCCESSES AND FAILURES (2)

A hangover. This has been a complaint on you since #Pokiri. You get attached to the kind of acting and scripts that worked for you in the past. The audiences come to the halls to get excited. They’re always excited to see an actor in a different zone.
WHAT DO THE AUDIENCE REALLY EXPECT FROM YOU? (1)

People mention ‘VINTAGE’ in their messages and tweets. Trust me that’s not what they really mean. 'Vintage' means that they want to see you experiment and try new things like you used to. Remember the period from 2010 - 14?
WHAT DO THE AUDIENCE REALLY EXPECT FROM YOU? (2)

It’s not like you did radical stuff or anything. You used to try new things in the commercial space and some succeeded and some didn’t. I know you’re a superstar. Stardom should never be a burden. It should always be an asset.
TIMES KEEP CHANGING (1)

There’s no guarantee that things that didn’t work for you in the past won’t work in the future and vice-versa. You need to understand time. All thanks to technology, people are more exposed to information nowadays. Please don’t take them for granted.
TIMES KEEP CHANGING (2)

You’re a superstar only because of the content in your works. The audience rejected a couple of films where you experimented a little more. Those are the same films which people now repeatedly watch on the television and on digital platforms.

BALANCE

You need to strike a balance between what will satisfy the viewers, producers and distributors. Talking about satisfaction, are you really satisfied with your works? When did you last feel like this? https://twitter.com/urstrulyMahesh/status/26927639004
DO YOU REALIZE WHAT YOU’RE GONNA LOOSE IN THE LONG TERM?

You say you want to act till you’re 100. The new generation is a tough nut to crack. You need to impress them. Good cinema is the only way. The new generation don’t enjoy films which rely much on your nostalgia and past.
MESSAGING

Every film on planet earth has a message. Literally every film that is not very abstract. You don’t need didacticism to be on the face of it. Messaging and didactic nature of the film must be subtle. Ask directors not to take your reputation and stardom too seriously.
DON’T BE SO STUCK TO COMMERCIAL PARAMETERS

I know fans feel bad when they see your films fail commercially. Trust be they also feel bad (deep-inside) when they witness hits which aren’t so deserving. They only pretend to be happy. Do films which can balance the both!
ON A PARTING NOTE

Please encourage people to be more open and honest to you about your work. I’m referring to your core team here who help you with the audience feedback and public relations. You need to break away from your comfort zone sir. We don’t want to lose you!
We want your to shine like a bright star. Hope this reaches you. I know the chances are slim, but I'm always hopeful. Always wish you the best and nothing less! ✨
