I believe there are beautiful parallels between Alma and President Joseph F. Smith regarding the resurrection of the dead. A short thread #DezNat

Alma saw much death during his ministry. The believers in Ammonihah. The subsequent annihilation of those in Ammonihah. The Anti-Nephi-Lehis. They great wars after the Anti-Nephi-Lehis join the Nephites. #DezNat

Joseph F. Smith saw much death during his ministry. Prophet during WW1 (1914-1918). Prophet during the great influenza pandemic (Spanish flu) of 1918 (50 millions deaths worldwide, 675,000 in US). He himself suffered from the pandemic and died of pneumonia in Nov. 1918. #DezNat

These experiences prompted both men to seek greater light and knowledge regarding the condition of those souls.
Alma tells his of his diligent inquiry to further understand the mysteries of God regarding the resurrection of the dead. #DezNat

President Joseph F. Smith tells us the same regarding his pondering on the beauty of the atonement and how all mankind might be saved.
