Can anyone in Canadian media explain why the words "ableism" and "ableist" are not part of their lexicon?

Racism and racist as well as sexism and sexist to give the true weight of a story and not downplay the severity of it.

It truly changes the narrative.

Policies prevent disabled people from being able to afford food.

VS

Ableist policies prevent disabled people from being able to afford food.

This is not semantics, it removes the true issues disabled people face.

Systemic ableism is an actual issue.

But we are stuck fighting more for recognition of ableism because people are not exposed to the word.

Many are ignorant to the fact they are ableist, because they are not exposed to the word or it's meaning.
