Today’s controversial tweet—we don’t really care for Yuh-Ling Niou & we don’t really understand why so many activists love her. She has been involved in this political game for a long time. She was the chief of staff to Ron Kim—Ron is a former lobbyist & his wife is a director at
a real estate firm. But our biggest issue with Niou isn’t who she has worked for or even the fact she once criticized the police for not doing more to protect her but because she’s close to a lot of these nonprofits we are so critical of.
We have argued that nonprofits have played a critical role in impeding progress, especially in cities like NY and we will continue to argue this. Over the years, support for elected officials who are so beloved by the NPIC has produced really bad results.
To invest so much energy in electoral politics is a debate we can have another time, but we don’t see how a revolution is replacing the party machine that used to be the gatekeepers for higher office with the nonprofit machine.
