Police Bail

Mini Thread!!!
When arrested, you or your legal representative can apply for bail at the police station, prior to appearing before court.

Police bail is applicable to certain offences, for example Schedule 1 offences or "Minor offences"
You need to inform the police about your intended application after being charged. Remember, if you have a pending case against you or a previous conviction (criminal record), then the Schedule of your offence changes from 1 to 5 or 6, then you'll need to make a formal bail
Application at court. Even if the current charge is theft or common assault, you'll need to appear before court for a formal bail application (due to pending case or previous conviction). If it is your 1st time coming in brushes with the law, then you can bring that application
Or If you have a clean record, then you can apply.

REMEMBER this is an application, it can be granted or refused. If granted, then you'll be given a bail receipt as proof of your release. If refused, you can proceed with your application before court
