I'll be really sad if TikTok actually gets banned, and here's why you should be too (a thread).

TikTok is not "just" a GenZ app for dance moves - it's a hub of activism. TikTok has given POC a platform to share their experiences and tell people the changes that they need to see.
It has been an invaluable resource for BLM protest videos and accounts - far better than the media. It's full of nuanced yet accessible explanations of politics, economics, and social justice issues. There's a wealth of relatable LGBTQ+ content I'd have killed for as a kid.
Indigenous kids (and adults) use the platform to share their cultures and expose how they are/have been treated by governments. There are calls to action, petitions, information on how to reach out to representatives. There's even accurate uncensored history, science, and sex ed.
TikTok actually mines less data than Facebook. But it is one of the few social media platforms which does not allow political ads, and it gives marginalized youth and their allies a voice and a platform. THAT's why Trump wants to ban it.
I’m gonna add some examples to this thread because y’all need to see how excellent this app can be.
