Way too many transphobes thinking they’re biology experts in the tl, let’s fix that

✨DIFFERENCES BETWEEN SEX & GENDER: A THREAD✨
SEX: Biologically defined and assigned at birth

•Chromosomes
•Hormones
•Internal and reproductive organs
•Physical appearances
•Generally thought of as male, female or intersex (with immense diversity)
•Does not always match *GENDER*
GENDER: Culturally defined

•How you view yourself and your identity
•Can be expressed through gender-expression (clothing, hairstyle, self-expression, etc.)
(1/2)
•Culturally defined “roles” or “attributes” (i.e. skirts are considered feminine in America but masculine in other parts of the world)
•Does not always match *SEX*
(2/2)
Let’s recapitulate

GENDER IDENTITY: How you feel/interpret your own identity (man, woman, genderqueer, etc.)

GENDER EXPRESSION: How you express that identity (masculine, gender-neutral, feminine, etc.)

BIOLOGICAL SEX: Assigned at birth (factors like chromosomes and organs)
Of course, there’s a huge spectrum of gender identities someone could identify with and everything’s completely valid, hope this graphic can help you
Basically, either stop pretending you know anything when you couldn’t even pass biology in 2nd grade or just stop being a transphobe and let people be
