We were explicitly told any other leader should be 20 points ahead. Even when Labour were running 8 points ahead of the Conservatives in December 2017.

This is how Labour was polling last year up until they started getting loud about the second referendum policy: https://twitter.com/nick_will1972/status/1289591261024772096
Excuse after excuse from the Starmtroopers.

When Labour pulls ahead it's Starmer surge, when they stall or fall like they have done on and off through the last two months, it's JEROMBY CROYBN'S FAULT.
Nobody's surprised the end of a long hate campaign against Labour and its leader is good for a bit of a poll bounce, but otherwise the party's fortunes seem completely tied to that of the Conservatives shitting all over their legs, rather than anything Labour is saying or doing.
They're desperately clinging onto Sir Kieth's personal ratings, but besides the fact the impact on actual voting intention is dubious; Starmer is returning "don't know" answers as high as over 51% to a lot of the questions, and they seem to be breaking negative as time goes on.
What's happened recently to see quite a rapid decline in his numbers in the last few weeks?

I honestly couldn't tell you. Maybe that's the problem, he's the invisible man, leading a party that refuses to take a position on basically anything.
