Model Minority Myth: It perpetuates a narrative in which Asian Americans are all extremely hard working and intelligence, and if any minority works hard... they can have socioeconomic success in America. It has been used to invalidate the systemic racism in this country.
This myth characterizes Asian Americans as a polite, law-abiding group who achieved a higher level of success than other minorities through some combination of talent and pull-yourselves-up-by-your-bootstraps immigrant ideology.

Invalidating the real systemic racism in the US.

Immigration Act of 1965 revoked all the migrant bans from Asia. Only allowing certain background to enter, such as Doctors, Lawyers, & Engineers. Asians didn’t have to suffer from Jim Crow/Slavery, allowing for socioeconomic success. Asians were still seen as inferior to whites.
The Model Minority Myth was used as an excuse for the systemic racism against African Americans in the Civil Rights Movement of the 1960s. Completely ignoring the fact that Asian, Hispanics, and Latinos all suffered from socioeconomic laws & racism that benefited white people.
