Though I've not decided on the exact order of my preferences yet, and I'm convinced that everyone standing would do a brilliant job, there's some candidates in the Young Greens internal elections who I'd like to highlight in particular. 1/
First is @robertjnixon_, standing for NPO. I've worked with Robert before on SEYG committee, and I know from then just how strong his knowledge of elections and strategy is. He's someone who's incredibly dedicated to our cause and movement... 2/
... and I really hope he'll be elected to drive forward our elections work. With a bumper set of local elections next year and a really good chance to expand our base of Young Greens councillors, it's really key that we have a good elections officer... 3/
... We could've done with one like Robert during the 2019 General. Beyond elections, Robert has incredible politics. I know he'll be someone who'll always stand firm for marginalised groups and ecosocialism. Vote Robert! 4/
Second is @CouldBeKel, another NPO candidate (and also the disability group). Kelsey is an absolute credit to the Young Greens and I really admire the work he's done during the GPEx elections to push accessibility (which shouldn't have been needed, and yet...)... 5/
... I know from 30 under 30 that Kelsey is really capable and has the organising skills the movement needs. I know he's someone who will work incredibly hard and I know just how driven he is in the struggle for social justice and climate justice. The E&D role is something... 6/
... that EC would really benefit from, especially with Kelsey in the role. He's someone I'm proud to know and proud to have part of the Young Greens, and who absolutely should be on next year's EC. 7/
Third is @Sarah_Sharp__, an organising machine and NPO candidate. I was lucky to get to know Sarah during last year's GE. It wouldn't be an overstatement to say that her work organizing young people in Bristol was crucial in Carla's doubling of vote share. 8/
Her organising skills in Bristol have built one of our strongest university YG societies, and it was so great to have her on 30 under 30 too. The skills she have are exactly the sort an international officer needs and I know she'd do good work... 9/
... embodying our spirit of internationalism, and she's already shown on @greens_ic. As we leave Europe, it's more important than ever to show that cross-border co-operation is essentially Green, and Sarah is someone who'd excel at that. 10/
Forth, I've been really impressed by @van_dorta's NPO pitch. I know from 30u30 she'd be brilliant organiser and she has experience organising in charities and in her SU. As we build our movement, strong, progressive campaigns will be key – I know Annabelle will bring these. 11/
Fifth, I've loved @JLizRob's NPO pitch. I hope our webinar series has shown the power of political education and I think it's a concept that would really benefit from a dedicated officer. Her experience on LYGs and 30u30 prove she'll deliver this and she'd be an asset to EC. 12/
Sixth, @IsaacGSearle is 100% my #1 vote for SPC. It's been a privilege working with Isaac this year. He's done absolutely incredible work as SPC co-chair despite a distinct lack of help for most of the year and despite the fact this is his first Young Greens role... 13/
... Isaac's not only kept up with the basics of the role (reports :/), but also been key in lots of our output, whether it's the accountability aspects of convention or the Resist Tory Rule event, or as someone always willing to be tech support on our million Zooms... 14/
Beyond pure skill, he's a genuinely great person even as he executes his role of telling us what we can't do, and he really lights up our EC meetings. There's big things in his future, I'm sure. I'm really impressed by his pitch this year and am proud to have co-proposed him. 15/
My other SPC votes will go to @ria__patel, new to the role but someone who has proved her skill and dedication elsewhere, whether it be LYGs, GoC, LGBTIQA+ Greens, or People and Planet's divest pride movement, and RON. 16/
And of course I'll be voting for @rosierawle (obviously). I was really impressed by the co-chair section of the hustings earlier and I'm certain that whichever pair is elected, our movement will be in safe hands. 17/
I know from previous experience just how capable @macsenllew is as a political voice (hence the invite to every panel ever) and as an organizing force. Macsen's someone who will stand up in the strongest possible way for the Young Greens, for ecosocialist politics... 18/
... and for climate and social justice. He'll absolutely be an effective political voice for our movement and I know he'll drive us forward as we continue to grow. I'm absolutely certain he'd be an excellent co-chair and he absolutely deserves your vote (and will have mine). 19/
I don't know @lilyfitzg2 so well, but I've been incredibly impressed by her pitch and by her really great answers during the hustings earlier. Whether she's elected or not, her energy and experience is what we need in this movement! 20/
So safe to say I won't be voting RON for co-chair... In all the roles we've got a really great crop of candidates, and though I haven't mentioned all of them, I'm certain that very nearly every single one will do an incredible job. 21/
(I've also not mentioned Green Students because I don't really know any of the candidates and their pitches all seem A* to me. I'm really glad that whoever wins we'll have a functioning and thriving Green Students committee next year.) 22/
Anyway, check out the full list of candidates on https://younggreens.discuss.green/ , watch the hustings recording when it's up if you missed it earlier and, whatever happens, check your email over the next 14 days, and vote in all the Young Greens elections. end/
