Black is king can’t and shouldn’t be reduced to just “African aesthetics” unlike a blockbuster film like Coming to America which is purely African aesthetics- my sis hired authentic African creators. Like Did y’all see the surnames in those DISNEY CREDITS.

Beyoncé shared not only her platform but also the platform that DISNEY gave her to celebrate African authenticity. The movie has elements of cultures from all different parts of africa... From east to west to south to north... of AFRICA- the clothing, dancing, the music.

This is so important because Africans from different countries all got to have their moment but also see parts of their culture on a platform that is owned by DISNEY. Like I’ve watched too many American productions where they get it wrongggg and it aggravates me.

I appreciated what Wakanda did but when we watch it back in 20 years a lot those accents are gonna sound like Eddie’s in coming to america.
