I hate to say it, but this deadline is a red herring. Players will opt out after the deadline as the facts and circumstances change. There will be outbreaks that cause players to reevaluate their decisions

When the perceived risk of playing changes so much from what the player originally thought it would be that it outweighs the rewards of playing, players will opt out. We’re already seeing this in baseball. Here’s the latest example. https://twitter.com/danielalvarezee/status/1289559009939398656

It appears many others are likely to follow. Obviously, waiting until after 8/8 for keeper selections and drafts is the best we can do, but don’t be fooled into thinking your roster won’t see attrition after that date.
