So with my fight with the education group, it’s become clear to me that it’s just a bunch of largely white people who decided to do an education movement which grew exponentially before they knew what they had.

They then banned me for posting this

Then when I pointed out the hypocrisy on twitter and tagged them in it, they posted a highly inflammatory and untrue letter about me.

Here is the rub though, like most Karen’s, the thought, “oh look, an angry Black woman, I’m just going to smear and lie about her and totally get away with it” This is white supremacy in action.

They subsequently banned a WOC friend of mine who is an outspoken advocate. Black NDP member, former candidate and local kickass activist @mspencerbahons and also NDP member and former candidate @andreamoffat I stress NDP because this group really leaned on NDP MPPs for traction.

It is classic, and many BIWOC woman have experienced everywhere from professional settings to mommy groups. It’s permitted. One of the group admins just wrote an article for @Chatelaine, meanwhile she is complicit in the racist oppression of people.

They got support from NDP MPPs! (Psst! We seriously need to have a talk about vetting)

But this time they came for the wrong person.

But they’ve clearly done the before in their lives and will do it again and it is woven into the fabric of of whiteness.

The admin has either since sent rude emails to me, they have wasted the time of educator, expert, activist @BBFarhadi

And now they are unresponsive to the calls of many education and equity activists to acknowledge and try to repair the racist harm they’ve done. Again, classic white supremacy.

Again, this cannot be done without community and I cannot thank all the people involved from equity, education, parent and activist communities enough, as well as all the amazing people on Twitter who took time to write, I’m still getting through it all!

I am super touched and at the same time resentful that we consistently have to spend our time rallying around these issues when we could just be doing our work. White supremacy at play again.

And now their friends are asking us to be quiet, because our complaints about racism in the group is totally destroying their buzz. They just want to focus on education.

There was a massive racist thread where white and POC members accused us of stirring up shit and not letting them organize. But in order to organize for all children, you really need to not be racist, “not seeing colour” is not enough. I have literally 40 screen caps of this.

Admin did not shut them down. They are ignoring repeated calls for accountability. I have had media requests, which I’ll see if they solidify next week. Good stuff is happening on multiple levels. BIPOC are pressing hard and our white co-conspirators are fighting the good fight.
