& #39;people with a cervix& #39; is factual and specific language. If you have a cervix, you need to get a cervical cancer check. Perhaps you& #39;re a trans man or nonbinary and have a cervix, thus need to get one. Perhaps you& #39;re a woman who& #39;s had a trachelectomy, and thus don& #39;t need to
being factual and inclusive doesn& #39;t & #39;erase& #39; women... women are also people?? It& #39;s just accurate medical language to describe a specific thing. I& #39;m so bored of the chat around this, can& #39;t imagine how fed up trans and non-binary ppl are
this comes up every other week and it& #39;s so stupid. It always gets derailed and turned into debate around single sex spaces and then debating trans people& #39;s right to exist, too, so ends up being incredibly harmful
I& #39;ll give you a dumb analogy for people who genuinely don& #39;t get it. You& #39;re at a BBQ and they& #39;re handing out burger buns inside. You have a burger, and the majority of people who have burgers at the BBQ are women. The host calls out & #39;people with burgers, come get your buns& #39;
if then in ALL situations you were referred to as a & #39;person with a burger& #39;, yes, that might be a bit weird. But this is *specifically related to giving buns to people with burgers*, so it& #39;s accurate and means the man with a burger at the BBQ isn& #39;t being excluded
to kick off and go & #39;I AM A WOMAN, NOT JUST A PERSON WITH A BURGER& #39; at this BBQ is just like... okay, cool, fine, no one& #39;s saying you& #39;re not, we& #39;re just trying to make sure everyone with a burger gets a bun.
analogy over. Yes, I did have a burger yday and yes, I am craving another. Someone invite me to a veggie-friendly BBQ.
I’m muting this now for my own sanity.
After a night of explaining and arguing, think these two tweets are the ones that broke me
