a detailed lyric analysis of my tears ricochet and how it’s about her masters and the whole BML situation: a thread

Taylor starts with how it all started the day she decided to leave the label ‘we gather here in a sunlit room’
And of course during these discussions and meetings she was hurt because Scott wouldn’t let her purchase her masters ‘did i deserve, babe all the hell you gave me?’

now what’s sad is when she said ‘i swear i loved you’ which basically made it even worse for her when he was being an asshole by not selling her back her masters.
‘i didnt have it in myself to go with grace’ i mean can you blame her? she had to leave everything behind

‘and you’re the hero flying around saving face’ ofc Scott pretended everything was alright between them and made several posts and tweets about how their relationship was perfect.
‘And if im dead to you why are you at the wake/cursing my name/wishing i’d stayed’

so obviously after Taylor spoke up about her masters, Scott didn’t like it. hence the ‘cursing my name’ and ‘wishing i stayed’ is him regretting letting her go.
‘Look at how my tears ricochet’ is badass bcz it’s Taylor saying fuck you i ain’t gonna cry after what you did to me

‘we gather stone/never knowing what they’ll mean/make a diamond ring’ i think here it’s Taylor adressing the whole “she should have read the contract” bcz she never knew her work was gonna be this big and that he will do that to her which leads to the lyrics

‘you wear the same jewls that i gave you as you burry me’ she’s saying he profited off her art (jewls), and then turned his back on her once she wasn’t useful to him anymore.
‘i can go anywhere i want just not home’ is so bcz her masters were her home and now she can’t go back

i believe the lyrics ‘i still talk to you’ are referring to this song since writing and singing is her way of expressing herself.
and the most obvious lyric ‘you hear my stolen lullabies’ referring to her stolen masters that she hopes are haunting him and making him sleepless

and finally ‘you had to kill me but i killed you just the same’ might refer to her re-recording her masters because now everything he took from Taylor will be worthless so it’s basically an eye for an eye.
They both lost at the end.
