The even where almost every filipino nowadays have forgotten. It didnt gain the same notoriety like the Rape of Nanking, the Siege of Stalingrad, or the fall of Paris. No, It is as if it was a push over or just another number in the sheets.

Children in Germany are taught of the holocaust, Korea, China, and other affected SEA countries in WW2 were taught of the harsh histories. Meanwhile, filipinos didn't even know that Manila was one of the first casualties as the city was attacked after Pearl Harbor. Unprepared.

As a filipino, seeing pictures of the aftermath hurts. It pains me because those people didnt deserve it. Yes they are just numbers on a history book but remembering that they were once humans who had lives. Remembering is the least we could do.
As a historian, I want my fellow filipinos to remember, these wounds are not fully healed but we act as if it was nothing. Pushed back into the corner as we lick the asses of possible invaders. The people who lived through such hell are still alive today.
The Filipino Comfort Women who are still seeking justice from Japan until now. I've heard/read some disrespectful comments online about how rallying wont do anything. It makes me angry and furious how fucking stupid some filipinos are.
ANYWAY I WILL STOP THE RANTING HERE

The Rape of Manila was also dubbed as "The Manila Holocaust" because of the brutality and violence the Japanese army committed. General Yamashita ordered Rear Admiral Iwabuchi to withdraw from Manila but he and his men choose to stay.

The Japanese are on the verge of defeat in Manila as Gen. McArthur and his men are marching towards the City. That is also the reason why Yamashita ordered Iwabuchi and his men to withdraw. Around 10,000 Japanese soldiers refuse to follow the order of withdrawal.
The agitated and frustrated soldiers took their pent up rage to the civilians as they committed rape, murder, arson and other atrocities against the civilians of Manila.
