I’m not sure if this is my own experience or a semi universal/Asian one but I find the elders of the community lack hobbies and any sense of adventure as they are usually so focused on the stresses of life and make little time for fun. Sometimes they begrudge the very idea of it.
I’d really appreciate if those of you who have parents who do live a fuller/generally active life could fill me in on hobbies + small (relatively local) things that I could do w/ my dad that will reignite his sense of adventure + curiosity + give him back a piece of his old self.
Sorry, I know I ask a lot abt these things but this whole helping an elder w/ deep depression who does have the desire to get better + is seeking help thing is so alien in the Asian community that I find it hard to find resources somewhat specific to our cultural idiosyncrasies
