Canterbury Young Labour committee has been deeply worried and saddened today at the comments and actions of our MP @RosieDuffield1. Firstly, we would like to extend our unconditional solidarity and love to trans people, whos rights are under attack from the government.

Secondly, we make clear that we condemn statements made today and in the past by our MP which have expressed transphobic sentiment - e.g. the claim that only women have cervixes. We ask Rosie to apologise for the comments, which harm trans people, and make a commitment to -

- working with LGBTQ+ groups in the future and educating herself on these issues. Finally, we call upon her to re-asses the way in which she has used social media to attack Labour activists criticising her statement in good faith.
