~100 rightwing rally goers are gathered in Parliament square in London protesting against Muslim ‘rape gangs’. The event is organised by the ‘Hearts of Oak’ organisation. Tommy Robinson & Sargon of Akkhad will be speaking via video. Other far right leaders will appear in person.
90% of the attendees are not wearing masks and they’re easily outnumbered by nearby police officers waiting in vans in case of violence.
Far right speaker Richard Inman claims antifa and @AntiRacismDay protect Muslim pedophiles and claims there is an epidemic of Muslim pedophiles which must be met with the “vaccine” of deportation. He also attacks the left and “communists.”
Scuffles break out between the far right rally goers and a group of about 3 people calling for racial justice. A black Muslim women is shouted at by the far right and told to leave and “go home.” Stewards for the rally and the police push back the far right attackers.
Now Catherine Blaiklock is speaking and asks “who really runs Britain?” and attacks human right laws. She was the founder and first leader of the Brexit party but was forced to resign after racist and Islamophobic tweets from a now deleted twitter account she controlled surfaced.
A pre-recorded message from failed UKIP MEP candidate and rightwing personality Carl Benjamin (aka Sargon of Akkhad) was played. I couldn’t hear it clearly enough to say what he said. Sounded like his standard talking points though.
Still on the schedule today is a video message from Tommy Robinson and an in person speech from Anne Marie Waters founder of the far right anti-Islam For Britain party.
The crowd take a break to sing a very pitchy and unenthusiastic round of ‘Land of Hope and Glory’ accompanied by an acoustic guitar.
Tommy Robinson gives a pre-recorded speech calling for the deportation of the men who were convicted of raping children in Rochdale. It’s a much more toned down version of Tommy and after 5 minutes the crowd appears to grow bored and restless.
In his speech Tommy Robinson made several false claims including the line that Muslim ‘rape gangs’ make up the majority of sexual assaults in the UK. This is not true and Tommy presented no data to back up his claim.
Danny Roesco the speaker after Tommy says ‘we clapped for the carers, now let’s clap for Tommy’ and leads a round of applause for Tommy Robinson.
Anne Marie Waters the leader of the anti-Islam For Britain party takes the stage and rails against the government and the “evil press” vowing revenge against them if a For Britain government were elected saying the press will be “taught a lesson you will never forget.”
Waters also got the previous speakers name wrong as she came on stage.
The event wraps after two more underwhelming speeches and a play of Rule Britannia.
