It is harder for the pregnant woman to carry a twin pregnancy.

It means more back pains, knee pains and stomach pains than with a singleton pregnancy.

But there are medical consequences of a twin pregnancy. https://twitter.com/talkgynae/status/1289498007684038656
Often the membranes rupture early leading to two prematurely born babies.

With the progress in premature nursery technology usually this is more of an annoyance than a danger.
The mother could be recovered, but her twin babies are still cared for in the premature nursery until they are safe to be sent home.

Unfortunately there is a high rate of breech presentations, which usually means that a Cesarean section has to be done.
There is a higher C-section rate with twin pregnancies because there are more potential complications that lead to emergency C-sections.

Women with twin pregnancies have a higher rate of diabetes, kidney problems with associated high blood pressure and pre-eclampsia.
Often this requires hospitalization with bed rest to treat the pre-eclampsia.

When all has gone well, there is the sudden realization that having twins is a lot more work than a single baby.
You need a bigger baby carriage. You need two car seats etc.

But usually within 6 months the new parents learnt to accept the situation.

I still love twins tho 😊😁
