I just ended my 24hrs call and we had to enter theatre for the delivery of an advanced maternal aged patient with a bad obstetrics history. This was her 4th pregnancy with no live birth.

Index pregnancy was concomitant with a huge uterine fibroid. In attendance were high ranking consultants and Senior Resident Doctors.

Baby was out in minutes, but didn’t cry!
Mother is a medic, so she understands what it meant.

The wrinkles on her forehead and episodes of tears rolling down her cheeks were heart breaking.

The neonatologists swung into immediate action. I looked round and saw the blank expressionless faces. Suddenly, we heard this loud, deafening cry from the resuscitier,

We all turned around looking at the very pink baby boy and echoed ‘Thank you Jesus’

IKR! It was then I knew we were all saying a silent prayer hoping that our medical knowledge will help us.

Conscious or not, Most times your Doctors pray for you.
