People always ask me: "how can you be against identity politics when you are so fond of your Parsi roots?" I am completely in favour of people celebrating their ethnic (or any other) identity if it is done in a positive way, rather than as a means of denigrating others. 1/
If it& #39;s a political cudgel with which to beat others (because you think you& #39;re superior) or some weird twisted masochistic thing (because you think you have white fragility or whatever) or something to gatekeep because you won& #39;t share (a caste mark, in effect), then no. 2/
Celebrate it if that& #39;s fun for you or meaningful to you in a positive way. And accept that not everyone finds it fun or meaningful. Ultimately, it is cosplay. We& #39;re all individuals, we& #39;re all human. 3/
