hot take, but liberals and right-wing reactionaries are right about internet mob/cancel culture.

of course ^they^ only launch this attack at workers and colonized people who don’t tolerate bigotry and fascism,

but they’re not wrong insofar has the damage it causes otherwise.
its perfectly fine to demand someone take responsibility for their bad behavior and to want accountability and rehabilitation, but the problem is that a lot of y’all don’t want that — or don’t know how to go about getting it — and so instead of actually holding people accountable
and ensuring that they atone for their crimes in a sustainable way so we can all move forward together better, what y’all are actually doing is rendering social death on people.

and this is a problem bc a LOT of the time y’all run one of these “hashtagXIsOverParty” campaigns,
the person you’re canceling could’ve been reached. they could’ve held responsible, held themselves accountable, and then we could’ve got on with the business of rehabilitating them, and then got on with the business of ensuring whatever we’re fighting against doesn’t reproduce.
but no. y’all unprincipled, pick me, clout chasing fools love drama, so you send armies after people, emotionally abusing mutuals and strangers alike into abandoning someone instead of doing the hard labor of actually solving the problem you think you’re addressing in the mob.
there are truly only a handful of things that are unforgivable, and social death — in this context — should be reserved for fascists and fascist collaborators, not workers/colonized/otherwise victimized people who made an oopsie on twitter dot com
when the world is so dark and fucked up as it is, it is our responsibility to pull all the people into the light.

*everyone* is worth saving.

remember that next time you wanna cancel somebody whose biggest offense is making you made online.

goodnight!
