Short biography about an unknown gem by the name of Abdul Majid bin Hassan bin Ahmed bin Mustafa al-Jabarti.

An Ethiopian Imam and Khateeb of the prophets Masjid in Madinah, who played a major role in the formation of Saudis education and judiciary systems.
The Sheikh was born somewhere in the early 1900's (1900-1910) in the Jimma province of Ethiopia, he hailed from the Adkbairi tribe.

He moved to Makkah in 1926 where he stayed for 3 years studying under it's scholars before moving to Madinah in 1929 and continuing his studies.
The Sheikh became a principal and opened up many schools, especially in Shaqra, Central Saudi Arabia.

These schools that the Sheikh opened up were potentially the first proper government funded schools in Saudi Arabia.
Here is one of the students that graduated from one of these schools praising Sheikh Abdul Majid.

He exclaims: "If it was permissible to erect monuments than there would be none more worthy of a monument being erected for in Shaqra than Sheikh Abdul Majid!"
For those of you wondering the Sheikh in the Above video is Sheikh Abdullah Al Manea, he is the same Sheikh who gave the Hajj Khutba at Arafa yesterday. May Allah preserve him.

When Sheikh Abdul Majid moved to Madinah he assumed positions within the Judiciary systems until he was appointed to Saudis Supreme Judicial Council.
Sheikh Abdul Majid was an original member of Saudi Arabia's Council of Senior Scholars, a position which he retained till his passing.

The only living member of the original council being Sheikh Saleh Al-luhaidan (if I'm not mistaken)
The Sheikh was appointed as an Imam and Khateeb of the Prophets Masjid in Madinah in the year 1952.

The Sheikh would lead the 5 daily prayers, taraweeh and tahajjud as well as give the Khutba (including Eid) along side the eminent Sheikh Abdul Aziz bin Saleh.
Some of the Sheikh's more prominent students include:

1 (Left): Sheikh Abdullah Al-Manea, who gave the Khutba at Hajj this year.

2 (Right): Sheikh Ahmed Taleb Hameed, a current Imam and Khateeb of the Masjid an-Nabawi who attended the lectures of the Sheikh as a kid.
Sheikh Abdul Majid is also Sheikh Ahmed Taleb Hamed's grandfather from his mother's side.

PS. That would make him 1/4th Ethiopian.
Sheikh Abdul Majid bin Hassan bin Ahmed bin Mustafa Al-Jabarti passed away in Madinah in the year 1997 and is buried in Al Baqi' cemetery.

May Allah have mercy upon him , forgive and give him the highest rank in Jannah. Ameen.
