can i yell a bit about how shit the rwby fandom is to mlm for a sec

i imagine part of it's bc there's so far a severe lack of canon content in the show itself compared to wlw and m/f content but even then the fandom is. still awful to them.

outside of fairgame, how often to you see content for mlm ships? you might get the occasional seamonkeys or ironqrow pre-v7 but what about anything else, compared to the tons of content for both canon and noncanon wlw ships?

i could make the excuse that a lot of people are like me and struggle drawing men but i know that isn't true because drawing men is usually the /default/.

martial arcs; jaune and ren, ranked number 4 on my rarepair poll. you know how much fanart i've seen for them? two doodles. that's it.

and outside of just fan content, there's also the outright phobia rampant among the fandom, as well as a couple of others i could name.

when it comes to animation mlm are lucky to get the tiniest scraps of representation and when they do get some, everyone expects them to shut up and be grateful. they don't let them ask for more.

i once legitimately saw someone say that bow's dads in she-ra should have been enough for mlm despite them only having speaking lines in TWO EPISODES.

and without getting into it too much the fndm's treatment of mlm after [redacted]'s d*ath was atrocious. 'you baited yourselves' 'but there's other lgbt+ rep' 'it was a bad ship anyway'

and then there was the sheer amount of them using the harsh actions of a select few nastier shippers to generalize all mlm. i saw some people say they were considering cutting off all mlm in the fandom.

and now there's all this talk of 'mlm aren't oppressed', as if they aren't still illegal in several countries, as if their lives still aren't in danger, as if the very claim isn't oppressive in itself.

and granted this mentality is coming from more than just the rwby fandom but i've still seen it being spread here. mlm are oppressed DIFFERENTLY to wlw and other parts of the community. it does NOT mean they aren't oppressed at all.

i don't know where i'm going with this i'm just. incredibly frustrated. there's such a clear bias in the animation community on the basis that 'men bad' without realizing lgbt+ men- who receive CONSTANT discrimination from cishet men- are not supposed to be included in that.

oh, and let's not forget the recent take of 'mlm ships are just for straight people to fetishize and can't possibly be shipped by mlm at all, because then we have no good reason to complain about them'

bottom line: stop being pieces of shit and treat your lgbt+ brothers better before your words and actions blow up into serious harm (which they probably already have)
