The entire point of this tweet is that black people exist in mexico to she is one of the few who are widely known and even then it’s not that well known , there are millions of black afro mexicans in mexico who aren’t being made visible because of racism and colorism

These comments have shown that ppl need to be made more aware about the difference between nationality and ethnicity, lupita is a mexican citizen and a Kenyan citizen her nationality is kenyan-mexican, her ethnicity is Luo Kenyan

Ethnicity is based off of origins and culture for instance is you are from Latin America/have cultural ties to Latin America you are latino/a/x

Her being mexican doesn’t take away from her being a BLACK woman idk how its been misconstrued that this was the point of the tweet, its an acknowledgement that many Latin Americans don’t want to acknowledge black ppl especially mexico who up until 2019 afro mexicans couldnt

Identify as such , black and indigenous ppl are overlooked and mistreated so much because of the big problem with racism and colorism that mexico along with other Latin American countries have
