Kiddo & one of her besties decided that since they are 9, if you add their ages + two of their friends, they qualify as old enough to run for the U.S. presidency. I am sharing now, for your enjoyment, the Four Fourth Grade Girls In A Trenchcoat presidential platform for 2020:
1 -- Statehood for Puerto Rico & DC
1a -- Sovereignty for Hawaii -- "If they want it. We shouldn't have annexed the kingdom of Hawaii, and we can apologize."
1b -- Sovereignty for Alaska -- "They're not attached to us & we should ask if they want to be Canada instead."
2 -- Emphasis on renewable energy
2a -- A federally-funded national bike rental program so people drive less
2b -- A federally-funded tidal power program
2c -- A federally-funded solar panel installation program for homeowners
3 -- National Park maintenance and expansions
3a -- More parks, and every state gets at least one
3b -- Ailing shopping malls and strip malls get turned into parkland instead.
4 -- Fig orchards in every state. "This seems like something parents would like, since every parent I know likes figs."
"Not everyone does, honey."
"Well, not everyone likes oranges but we have lots of those. Why not figs instead? More trees are better."
5 -- Comprehensive overhaul of federal school breakfast & school lunch programs.
5a -- All meals are free to all students
5b -- All meal options account for student allergies
5c -- "All meals are good for you AND taste good."
6 -- Re-establish favorable relationships with historic U.S. allies.

"We need to apologize to Europe. Like, a lot."
Honestly, I was impressed by the breadth & depth of the Four Fourth Grade Girls In a Trenchcoat presidential platform. They also want it known they'll be annexing Busch Gardens Williamsburg as campaign HQ so they can go on rides between writing policy statements.
Four Fourth Grade Girls In a Trenchcoat can't vote this year. But you probably can! Check http://vote.org  for everything you need to vote. And check VoteRiders for volunteer opportunities: https://www.voteriders.org/get-involved/volunteer/.
