Teenager Wei Wuxian:

Tchaikovsky - Dance of the Snow Plum Fairy

All I can think of is a mischievous, playful, and charming individual, prancing around and entertaining people. Wei Wuxian as a teenager, was daring, flirtatious, charming, and very fitting for this piece.

I can literally picture his prankster little self, skipping and frolicking about, curious about everything! Wei Wuxian being naughty and showing Lan Wangji those promiscuous books is only one of the many examples of scenes I can imagine. His awaiting smirk and giggles? Yes.

Yiling Laozu Wei Wuxian:

Chopin - Funeral March

Being feared by nearly everyone, the Yiling Patriarch is a walking funeral. If he is near... death is only around the corner... inescapable. He, himself, brought his destiny when the loss of control was too heavy to carry around.

Two very distinct scenes come to mind when I hear this haunting piece. The first is when Wei Wuxian searches for Wen Ning's body and all the guards drop to their knees and beg for his mercy. The second is when he sits on the rooftop and faces the cultivation world in a challenge.

Lan Wangji:

Claude Debussy - Clair De Lune

I have a lot to say about this one but I'll try to keep it short and simple. This piece depicts the soul as somewhere full of music ‘in a minor key’ where birds are inspired to sing by the ‘sad and beautiful’ light of the moon.

Hanguan-jun, the light bearing lord, has composed a 'sad and beautiful' song. Both tell a story of the three L's: love, loss, and longing.

Just close your eyes, picture the three, and enjoy this mesmerizing piece. (This just happens to be one of my all-time favorites TBH).

Wangxian:

Tchaikovsky - Swan Lake (Theme)

This is story of a man who falls in love with a cursed woman. The curse haunts the woman, tying her to be a swan in the daylight and a beautiful human in the night. Reminds me of Lan Wangji, who tries to help a very cursed Wei Wuxian.

Listening to this, the way it escalates, very much shows the tragedy of losing Wei Wuxian. Watching him at first be his carefree self, then to see him fall into a miserable doom that he can not escape.

Sigh...

Jiang Cheng:

Beethoven - Moonlight Sonata

This piece, in my opinion, reflects the heaviness that Jiang Cheng carries around on his shoulders. He very well masks it with anger but it is evident that is built up sorrow and weighted sadness that makes him act the way he does.

The notes played with both hands intertwined create a lulling sadness that indicates a 'Hey, I'm used to this' kind of aura. As we know, Jiang Cheng is very much used to not being able to describe his emotions using words.

Lan Xichen:

Edvard Grieg - Morning Mood

From the name, this piece transforms the aesthetic of a perfect morning mood into music. Peaceful, gentle, and giving a sense to a brand new beginning, this piece reminds me a lot of Lan Xichen's dreamy and picture perfect persona.

I can imagine Lan Xichen, with a warm cup of tea, stepping out of a cabin with the sun barely peeking through the mountains and trees. I picture him, in all his perfection, in an equally perfect landscape- which could be mistaken for a place in heaven. (wbk, lan xichen GOD).

Jiang Yanli:

Chopin - Nocturne in E flat, OP.9, NO.2

Soft, simple, and crisp are three ways I would compare Jiang Yanli to this piece. Both bring comfort, peace, and a sense of positivity to those who listen. The match, in my perspective, is joyous and hopeful!

As a sister, Jiang Yanli was known to ease any situation by simply just being there. Her words are soft spoken yet meaningful and impactful, just like this beautiful piece of music.

Jin Zixuan:

Johann Straus - The Blue Danube

Okay, hear me out. I chose this piece simply because it shows just how much of a meme this man is. The realization that Jin Zixuan has that 'oh my god i am suddenly in love with this woman' is so funny to me that it's endearing.

The BIGGEST scene that comes to mind when I hear this is when Jin Zixuan finally finally finally said something cute to Jiang Yanli... lowkey confessing to her... and then RUNNING AWAY ALL FLUSTERED.

'oops ahaha guess i'm a fool for this woman ahaha woopsies i'm in love???'

The hets:

Paul de Senneville - Mariage D'amour

Ughh... why did their end have to be so tragic? Why did they have to end? They were so so so good while they lasted, in love, married happily. It happened all too quickly, barely being able to enjoy their time as a couple.

Fleeting moments, fast notes, memories that last forever. This piece is achingly romantic and tells a story of a romance that ended as soon as it started.

Jin Ling:

Georges Bizet - Habanera

Please, tell me you can see it too. Jin Ling, a pissy sect leader who has an attitude as big as his ego.

"Pfft, you amuse me with your nonsense."
"As if /you'd/ know anything about being proper."
"Yaaawn, I'm getting bored of your existence."

Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love this kid. In fact, he's my favorite junior! This piece just gives me very big Jin Ling vibes with all the pettiness that I get from it. He just happens to be extra pissy with this OTHER junior that is annoyingly cute and smart too.

Lan Jingyi:

Mozart - Eine Kleine Nachtmusik

This is a classic (haha funny). Suits Lan Jingyi because I imagine him to be the 'Mr. Know-it-all' that Jin Ling despises (secretly crushes on). He's top of his class, a smartass, and a bigmouth. But ontop of all that, he's adorable.

"Yeah, yeah, pish-posh. Who /cares/ if you're a sect leader? I'm still older, smarter, AND cooler than you."

"Oh? The answer to this very horrendous looking equation? Easy."

Lan Jingyi also has pride in being a Lan and in having amazing mentors like THE Hanguan-jun.

Lan Sizhui:

:( This tiny baby is getting the famous lullaby. Not only is he being paired with it because he himself is my little angel but also because he is tiny. Something about his presence is so comfortable and AND I LOVE HIM!!

Wen Ning:

Bizet - Prelude to act 1 for Carmen

This little mess of a cutie is getting this piece because it is a. meme. just like him. Wen Ning is always caught up in the cutest most awkward situations and this piece truly describes the ambiance of it all.

He's always in a hurry, always in a hassle, knocking everything down wherever he goes. Yes, I am specifically talking about that scene where Wei Wuxian calls on him in the Burial Mounds and he comes RUNNING through the crowd, making a mess. Fastest bestest boi.

Wen Qing:

Mozart - Piano Concerto NO. 21 in C major (||. movement)

I think that if this beautiful woman was given a chance to live a longer more peaceful life, it would be similar to the piece right here. It's easy to listen, soft and gentle on the ears, and is healing.

Only for a tiny bit were we able to see Wen Qing's true form in her happiness. I have the feeling that if she had lived longer, in different circumstances, she would have been adventurous! Looking for herbs, healing those in need, and being a bundle of kindness and sweetness.

Nie Huaisang:

Edvard Grieg - In the Hall of the Mountain King

Again, a meme. Yes, Nie Huaisang is a mastermind, thus paired with the genius Grieg. HOWEVER, this boy is a meme at heart and I love him so much. This reminds me of his unintentional troublesome demeanor so much.

Him, minding his own business: *suddenly in the middle of a fight*

Literally, whether it's Wei Wuxian and Lan Qiren or Wei Wuxian and Jiang Cheng, this boy always gets caught up in a mess. It makes me laugh so much when he just. exists. He's so hilariously relatable and cunning!

Nie Mingjue:

Beethoven - Symphony 5 in C minor

I know this is a bit mainstream, even for classical music, but this is really as dramatic as Nie Mingjue's death. The man lost his mind, bleed from his eyes, and fought hallucinations before his doom. Like... c'mon.

Also, I imagine this playing with his grand entrance.

Nie Huaisang going, 'Ima tell my big bro about this!' and Nie Mingjue, in all his glory, just coming down through those doors like 'Tell me what.'

Sigh, he was a big scary daddy while it lasted

Xue Yang:

Bach - Toccata and fugue in D minor

With his blood-lusting personality, this song fits perfectly. This aesthetic suits him pretty well mainly because he's. crazy. Yeah, a hot psycho on the loose, with little canine teeth, reminding me of a vampire.

I mean, every time he enters a scene, everyone goes *gasp*.

To me, he's just a lil black kitty that toys around with people but... he thinks he's all lethal and dangerous so I'll let it slide.

"But Bayan he literally wiped out clans for stupid reasons?!"

Jin Guangyao:

Julius Fucik - Entry of the Gladiators

This piece? Chef's kiss I could not find a better one even of I spend years searching! Absolutely amazing, beautifully composed, and entertaining to the ear! Suits this fellow so well!

Truly, Jin Guangyao in music form!
