Listening to the Arctic Monkeys, looking at this chart, and it occurs to me: of course culture has been stuck in a hauntological retrograde for the last 15-20 years. Boomers invented every subculture because they had economic means to do so.

Millennials put up with/
reinforce/copy Boomer inventions because we want to be as rich as they are (despite knowing we never will be).

Saying this out loud it seems breathtakingly obvious.
I was thinking about this tweet in my dream last night and it occurred to me - economic production defines everything, to the point that what cultural artifacts are we left with from the Soviet Union? What pop culture from the USSR is left? (nothing)
