Two things to hold together:

There are losses by not having in person instruction.
I felt it last night, in not getting to scan the room to see if I’d lost the whole third row on municipal wealth.
The little signs you read when you’re teaching when you know you’re losing them or you’ve lost them...we don’t get those the same way.
We also don’t get that same “aha!” spark when someone does get it.

That’s a real loss, and I don’t want us to underplay teaching by shrugging that off.
But—
I also am very very tired of folks who seemingly have just discovered the important role of schools lecturing educators on how much schools matter.
