My first mission from Blueface is completed!
ha, he just handed me like 20 more machines.
This one at a time but was getting old
I would name a machine incorrectly and then spend the remainder of the time that it takes to load the other two machines to try & figure out how to rename it as when you switch it to unmanaged it still has the MAC tied to a name, that’s wrong, instead of dropping the Mac in on RB
Brought the new knife that I ordered for some reason having no idea what I would be doing that turns out to be super helpful!
They decided to give dude a new desk for the project. Sweet!
Wondering about the switch situation though. The local domain servers are in the same cube haha
Today: stop service, start service, push software, reboot update bios, check GP, GP Sync, gpupdate, reboot, check services, what’s this service tag again?, check network file share 🐸 – bei White Water Parking Lot
Total number of machines I’m currently ‘futzing’ with: 8
I was kind of surprised by being able to help coworkers with both deployment and group policy stuff today while apparently being fairly competent as getting images, software and and GP pushed out to my own machines. It’s like, I know what I’m doing.
Fun facts for Boomers: you can’t copy and paste from Notepad to Notepad++ and then from Notepad++ into PS. It has no idea what the fucking yoourrr saying apparently
So this CA software we use in place of SCCM or “Endpoint Management” as they are calling it these days, it’s sometimes hit or miss and we have to install and restart the CAF software on machines, seasoned vet so this isn’t new, but anyway, point of the story being I gave the ...
System a band name through the software to deploy to it using the MAC address and then wasn’t able to rename it through the UI, like it’s not possible even if you delete the record, ping the sever again with that machine, it comes up with the name you gave it.
So at this point I’m like fuck is it going to sync from the machine name or is it going to sync from the sever back to the machine and over write the name I give the machine in PS. So my boss contacts our admin who’s out of the office and sits behind me haha, and he says ...,
the machine will overwrite whatever is in the software of you update it in PS after image deployment. Im kind of sketchy on this (lol, follow me out here I gave it a 44 instead of 434 on the ST) but assume to try it. Turns out, when I went to push software after updating name:
It did actually overwrite the previous name associated with the MAC that it wouldn’t let me update through properties. Now, granted maybe the option should be there but I was impressed with the functionality of being able to overwrite locally with PS and having it register.
humm, up to 3 installs with varying degrees of functionality al ready/ ...'" (_____)
I’m a great photographer.
Oh lordy ... follow me out here
Lol, apparently this is only half of it
I think there are more coming. The laptop image has to have to have some lan drivers pushed to it. The one we’ve been using won’t connect after booting the first time on the new model for some reason. Oops. Anyway, I’ll be busy for a while.
So yeah, great knife.
This is by far the largest Missions By Blueface ™️ mission I’ve been on yet.
you know, when your "" and you just kined ofwork its not as like oh boy im leaving right at X clock
Wow Blueface! Great mission today!
Pretty nice day. Packed up 2-3 machines already and these ones are almost done. In a surprisingly good mood. Thankfully this isn’t like drag racing or something where whoever has the most money wins or some absurd shit. Happy to be left alone and working.
I have 3 machines to make sure everything loaded last night and box up this morning. We where having an issue with our baseline GP software push yesterday afternoon but a planned after hours restart on the sever was done last night so I’m hoping that fixed it.
Stopping to get a drink while hoping some updates pushed. Not really sure I wanted it but what the fuck ever
Welp, I’m about to start 5 at once. There’s a laptop at the other desk. Assuming this is the rest of my day.
Lunch today!
Turned out to be a great group of kids! No issues. The laptop trouble ticket was a bit of a hassle and Joe had to take a look. Anyway, this thing is really good for dinosaur noises.
I think I can get more done today. Not sure
We got some sick art works and stuff
Got a lot done today and left 4 machines running to finish up tomorrow. They are bringing in another person on next week and honestly I have no idea what they are going to do. Assuming help with this which will drive me nuts because I try to be hella organized haha
Well I’ve moved to this desk. Which has the maximum amount of monitors. I think I can probably get 6 machines running at the same time but I’m not sure if it actually saves time or not haha
ITS BLUEFACE BABY!
They all have windows, GP and are currently updating windows and getting the AD software push. Lol race car image deployment is a good time.
Lunch complaint thread about troubleshooting software that acts inconsistently that litterally anyone who has ever worked in IT has felt with (not attached at all, sorry) it looks like we got some more going and one, appears to being going for Olympic glory!
Looks like the top teir Olympian, is not doing so great!
For some reason writing on boxes is fun for me
Productive start. More of the usual work stuff with attitudes and that’s disheartening but I’m not really hear to play baseball or listen to “theory’s” about how Jeff Bazos got laid one time and no one can figure out how it happened.
Just means getting better at tuning out as people don’t seem to listen to logic about haphazard jealousy then make some track clap backs so it could be entertaining
So your picking this up right??? Anyway, the Olympian @ and @ I’m going to have to boot this through USB because it is not ok and will not boot over LAN.
Looks like we’ve got another Olympic hopefull this morning. I brought a flash drive to create an install media for the other one as it refused to pxe boot and the drive is partitioned. Let’s see how it goes though.
It did the same thing so I brought my USB and I’ll boot into windows try to recover and see what they do. Glad I got this hub and cables too. Prayer to the computer gods for these things to act normal
Well, the boot from USB and then try to UEFI again didn't work. But the rest of the machines are done and I'm on to my next batch. Setting these two aside for manual image deployment.
Humm, I may have figured out how to fix the issue with the Olympic champions. These two where both doing it and I got them to boot, with a few twix.
Humm, I may have fixed the Olympian issue.
Don’t let the days of your life pass you by. Be sure people hear it when you write your name real dumb. Computer
It’s a nice day at work. Thought it odd that Suntrust would call and offer me a savings account after taking like 7k out of my account. Naturally I assumed that they had not returned the funds but I would like to see my transactions. Anyway, getting some work done before I left.
Lunch today. Brought some spicy ghost pepper chips. I usually eat them with lots of sour cream. To be frank I’m frightened. Oh yeah and here’s the book photo from earlier just to keep the thread going ...
Spicy chip and eating a desk. Possibly an illegal maneuver
“You see this shit you dumb hippy! This is what immana use to best your ass with!”
These 5510s don’t like the network driver and simply crap out when pxe booting after it loads. So I’ve got the ISO and made a bootable usb with Rufus. No idea what will actually show up on the install. I should probably update the drivers in the image ... ,’
Art photos
well i've found the issue and the solution but now have to update an ISO. lol I've studied this but never injected a driver into an image. This is a fun adventure.
I guess if im going to do this, i may as well at least attempt to update all the drivers. Command update from dell isn't working on this machine. I've noticed that if it has a newer GUI it will not work on our network so I guess its windows update and then try Support Assist
humm i updated the driver by clicking "update driver" in "windows" you may have heard of it, but SA is currently stalling to install a wifi driver. Maybe it will load eventually.... /'"}
haha so, you can download command update from the same website, run support assist that will update command update and then it switches to the older looking GUI and apparently works at that point.
so far so good. really great with my file paths...that i fucking created haha
lol, very productive afternoon. Yes, i tried local file permissions and no it did not make a bit of difference.
So anyway, back to this thread. My machines running slow this morning and the only thing thats changed is that i used 7zip to unpack the iso. Looks like it was made in december of last year. Trying to delete it to see if that does any thing. tried restarting but it didnt help
