Story thread: a cautionary tale of why no one should ever go to jc for romantic advice.

Or: Wwx foolishly goes to jc for romantic advice.
Wwx needs a reality check. He can feel hope beginning to burgeon in his heart, and if he doesn’t nip it in the bud, he might do something crazy like confess his feelings and make things awkward, or worse, drive lwj away from him for good.
It’s getting chronic, the urge to SPILL all his silly feelings into lwj’s lap. A few weeks previously they’d gone to the botanical gardens for a walk and lwj had stood in the dappled sunlight under an old gnarled tree and lifted his chin to feel the breeze on his face.
He’d been so beautiful standing there, eyes looking like burnished gold, bangs shifting over his forehead with the wind, when the urge to fall to knees at lwj’s feet and hold his hand, maybe kiss the back of it, had hit him.
That was the moment wwx realised that the feelings lwj had always inspired him—the affection, the elation, the giddiness, the pure joy—were /romantic/ in nature. He’d always wanted lwj’s attention on him; this was why.
See, wwx and lwj have history. They met when they were young as students. Wwx immediately liked lwj a lot. He was smart, probably the only student that could keep up with wwx, and utterly scrupulous in a way that wwx both admired, and couldn’t help but pick at.
Wwx wanted to be friends so very badly, but the feeling hadn’t been mutual back then. In fact, he’s pretty lwj /hated/ him. He was loud and rambunctious and cheeky, the very antithesis to lwj’s dignified coolness.
It was only through dogged effort and sheer audacity that wwx had managed to wear down lwj’s rigid exterior. He basically pestered lwj into giving in to friendship with him, and wwx isn’t convinced that lwj doesn’t regret it sometimes.
It would be madness on his part to ask for more. He is lucky they’re friends—/good/ friends even—but wwx is selfish. He wants more. And sometimes, lwj will do things that make him think he could maybe reach for it.
It’s why he goes to jc. Shijie would tell him lwj would be lucky to have him, and because she& #39;s such a good kind person, she& #39;d actually believe it.
Jc on the other hand will tell it to him straight—no sugar coating. He’ll disabuse wwx of all his romantic notions and point out all the holes in his musings and theories. He& #39;ll be honest, and most importantly, /realistic/.
