The faces in 4 directions represent 4 key stages of life: east face childhood, south face adolescence, west face puberty & north face old age

The eight faces of the Shivling are named according to the eight elements of Lord Shiva. 1- Sherva, 2 - Bhava, 3 - Rudra, 4 - Furious, 5 - Bhima, 6 - Pashupati, 7 - Ishaan and 8 - Mahadev.

The astmukhi shivling was recovered from Shivna river in 1940. The temple has 4 entrance doors from 4 different directions. The number of devotees increases in the month of Shravan. The temple is about 200 kms from Indore.
