I’m not asking for a President that’s perfect - I’m asking for a President with empathy, compassion and a visceral, fundamental understanding of the value of human life and the power of the human heart.

I’m asking for a President that builds on their strengths by surrounding themselves with people that can address their flaws.

I’m asking for a President that loves this country enough to put its needs above their own - and knows the difference.

I’m asking for a President that uplifts and empowers the people around them to serve our nation and help to perfect our nation - knowing that doing so means acknowledging both shortcomings and wrongs.

I’m asking for a President who demonstrates love for this country not by virtue of hugging the flag, protecting statues or buildings but by virtue of what they sacrifice for this country - and by their willingness to be held accountable to the people they serve.

I am asking for a President that will help extend the lifespan of this Republic rather than hasten its demise.

I am asking for a President that would rather share a hard truth than obfuscate or lie.

I am asking for a President that will help public participation in our governance to rise.

I am asking for a President that can convince me they care if we live or die.

And if I can get such a President, I will be an ally on their ongoing fight.

But if I get such a President, can I finally sleep at night?
