ok, im finally gonna pull the trigger and reply to the 4000000000+ "sodium good, optifine bad" tweets we keep seeing on this account every day. massive thread incoming.

Sodium is not better, it is *different*. Sodium may give you better overall performance than OptiFine, but much like OptiFine, it does really depend on your hardware configuration. In my case, I had absolutely zero noticable differences in overall performance...

#OFOFF (2/8)
...between OptiFine and the combination of Jellysquid's 3 optimization mods (Phosphor, Lithium, Sodium). Infact, I had overall *worse* performance on just Sodium alone. Again, this was just in my personal testing on my own machine.

#OFOFF (3/8)
With that said, I'm fully aware that many people seem to get MASSIVELY better performance out of these Fabric mods than with OptiFine, but you have to also consider that Sodium is ENTIRELY focused on optimization alone.

#OFOFF (4/8)
On the other hand, OptiFine provides some optimizations AND several graphics and visual enhancements, such as shaders and additional resource pack features.

The fact is, OptiFine isn't better than Sodium, but Sodium isn't better than OptiFine.

#OFOFF (5/8)
These are really just two different mods that have different overall goals. With that said, even though Jellysquid's mods don't seem to do much for me, I'm personally very excited to see where those projects go, and I wish nothing but the best for them.

#OFOFF (6/8)
It's also worth noting that Sodium shouldn't be considered as some kind of "competitor" or "replacement" for OptiFine, it's just one of several optimization mods out there (granted, one of the much better ones I've seen).

Here's a quote from Jellysquid herself:

#OFOFF (7/8)
TL;DR:

Do you just want pure, maximum performance? Try Jellysquid's mods.

Do you want good performance *and* a bunch of extra features? Try OptiFine.

#OFOFF I have to say, I'm honestly surprised we've gotten such an overall positive response to these tweets, and not one bit of hardcore elitism on either side of the argument. Thank you all for being so civil. 🧡

Have some surprise content.
