so people started protesting. like 'one of the largest mass protests in modern history' protesting. members of gov stepped down. then the virus hit and the remaining + reelected gov kept trying to fuck shit up knowing everyone was stuck at home
people had to push to keep protesting during the virus bc every lebanese politician is useless and wanted for hoarding millions of dollars of tax/debt money in their pockets. the revolution has weakened the country's already shit economy
2. THE BANKS:
so lebanon uses 2 currencies, the lebanese pound (LBP) and the dollar (USD). when inflation hit and ruined the LBP, banks banned the use of USD and converting LBP to USD so people had to spend most of their now useless money on essentials.

people with lots of USD were fucked because they had to convert to LBP (now useless) just to buy essentials, and losing tons of money bc of the exchange rate
the banks eventually stopped allowing transactions both in and out of the country to try and stop an economic collapse, so now students cant pull out money to pay tuition and families cant pay rent which is another reason why ppl started protesting again
the gov ignores it all and hoards the wealth they stole from the people as most of the lebanese population struggles with no money for food, rent etc, hence the financial crisis
3. ISR*EL AND H*ZBOLLAH
recently during the revolution and financial crisis, a powerful force in lebanon (h*zbollah) started making all these claims and threats to isr*el. isr*el basically took that as an opportunity to get cocky and fight
