HTH lore time / Stan and Patty met in the early 2000’s. They kept bumping into each other at post-punk revival shows in Manhattan. First Yeah Yeah Yeahs, then Interpol, then Strokes. They finally exchanged Livejournal URLs to keep in touch

Stan and Richie were still dating at the time, high school sweethearts. Richie loved Patty when he met them, the little weirdo with hair somewhere between a Tegan and a Sara, who was able to drag their two favorite boys up to the barricade with just force of will

Richie knew how attached Stan was to Patty. Whenever Stan would talk about them too much Richie would start humming “Bohemian Like You” until Stan shut him up with his mouth

A few years later, Patty figured out that Richie and Stan had broken up before either of them said anything because suddenly Richie was #2 on Stan’s Top 8 (#1 was Tom, for the irony). Richie’s MySpace name changed to “used to be one of the rotten 1s and I liked u for that”

Stan stayed inside for too many days, so Patty showed up one night, broke in to his apartment and dragged him to see LCD Soundsystem. Stan squeezed their hand way too tight during “I Can Change” but they found it endearing

Stan finally kissed Patty months later, at a Fiery Furnaces show. Patty had a Karen O bowlcut at the time, that he told them was so chic and cool. Too cool to like him back. Patty called him an idiot and kissed him back.
