Remember the #DLMOscarChallenege? That's where you - and me - try to watch every movie nominated for Academy Awards in a given year. I'll definitely do it again the next time Oscars happen, but in the meantime, let's do a #DLMEmmyChallenge! I'm going to try to watch at least...
one episode of every series, mini-series and limited series nominated for #Emmys . The nominations are announced tomorrow morning, and the awards are handed out on Sept. 20. Plenty o' time. We can do this! #DLMEmmyChallenge
By my count there are 45 things that I have to watch. Best Series, Best Mini-Series, Movies, Linited Series and all the acting categories. Directors, writers, production designers, etc, sit this one out.
I’ve already seen all or at least one ep of BETTER CALL SAUL, THE MANDALORIAN, OZARK, STRANGER THINGS, CURB, SCHITT’S CREEK, THE KOMINSKY METHOD, THE MORNING SHOW, POSE, BAD EDUCATION, HOLLYWOOD, MRS AMERICA, WESTWORLD, SNL, GLOW, KINMY SCHMIDT, MODERN FAMILY, MODERN LOVE. 17/45
NORMAL PEOPLE - Awkward Irish boy meets awkward Irish girl. The first ep felt like a movie. Not sure if I’ll go back to it or not. #DLMEmmyChallenge

18/45
BLACK-ISH - I’ve seen parts of this show over the years, but I just watched ep 1 of season 8 and one of the jokes made me laugh harder than I have in a while. I’ll be watching more for sure-ish! #DLMEmmyChallenge

19/45
LITTLE FIRES EVERYWHERE - Watched the pilot ep directed by Lynn Shelton and I am intrigued. Great job of setting up a mysterious character/situation. #DLMEmmyChallenge

20/45
THE MARVELOUS MRS MAISEL - I fell behind on this extremely entertaining show in season two but will see all of it someday. Watched The Apollo ep to catch guest Emmy nominee Wanda Sykes as Moms Mabley, and she didn’t disappoint. #DLMEmmyChallenge

21/45
RAMY - Caught the first ep of the second season, which introduces a strong new recurring character played by Mahershala Ali. Looking forward to more of him and this show. #DLMEmmyChallenge

22/45
THE HANDMAID'S TALE and KILLING EVE - Two shows I heard were great but I never got around to, so I watched the first ep of the most recent season of each. Confusing? Yes. But exciting. I want to see more of these programs that are showcases for excellent actresses.

23-24/45
WHAT WE DO IN THE SHADOWS - Loved the movie but never got into the series. Tried again with the “Baron’s Night Out” ep after talking about it with Doug Jones on WIDE WORLD OF DOUGS, and I am hooked! Will probably watch it all in the next few days. #FXonHulu

25/45
DEAD TO ME

26/45
THE CROWN - Exquisite production design, incredible actors, but I just can't bring myself to give a shit about the royal fam.

27/45
A BLACK LADY SKETCH SHOW - A white man enjoyed it very much show.

28/45
UNORTHODOX - I was two episodes in before finding out there’s only 4 episodes total. I’ll watch the whole “limited series” for sure. I’m already half-way done!

.29/45
INSECURE - Issa Rae all day.

30/45
THE GOOD PLACE - I wasn't as into this show as most people I know but the final ep stuck the forking landing.

31/45

#DLMEmmyChallenge
BLACK MIRROR - I
watched the Smithereens episode. Andrew Scott is great as a hostage taker but after an hour I felt like I was the hostage.

32/45
BLACK MONDAY - Apologies to Showtime for not checking out this fun show sooner. Apologies to myself as well, for entertainment deprivation.

33/45
HOW TO GET AWAY WITH MURDER - I'd never seen this show before now and the only thing I understood from watching a random ep is that Viola Davis and Cicely Tyson are great actors.

Question: did they ever actually reveal how one gets away with murder?

34/45
THE OUTSIDER - Intended to just watch an episode to see Jason Bateman's nominated performance but I got hooked and watched two eps. Might not watch a third because it's based on a Stephen King book so I can't expect a satisfying explanation of the central mystery.

35/45
BROOKLYN NINE-NINE - Great show, not sure why I haven't watched every episode. Once this challenge is over, I'm going to get on that.

36/45
SELF MADE: INSPIRED BY THE LIFE OF MADAM C.J. WALKER - If you start it, you will be inspired by Octavia Spencer's performance to watch all four episodes of this period drama with modern music.

37/45
BIG LITTLE LIES - Saw both seasons - and loved it - but forgot to include it in my initial post.

38/45
Plus I got the number wrong on the shows I had seen before starting the #DLMEmmyChallenge.

39/45
I KNOW THIS MUCH IS TRUE - Mark Ruffalo is superb as twin brothers, but this six episode mini-series is a major bummer. The first ep was very depressing, and the ending implies things are going to get worse. No, thanks. Not now, anyway.

40/45
THIS IS US - I missed the bus on this one. I finally gave this fairly popular family drama - that I always thought of as the DEAD GUY SHOW - a try and it’s just not what I need at this time. #ItsMeNotYou

41/45
EUPHORIA - Zendaya is not Meechee.
