here we go, @EternalCardGame appreciation thread: 1 like = 1 reason why I absolutely adore Eternal and will play this game forever
1) Eternal helped me to reunite with a friend. 6 years ago there was a wonderful TCG Infinity Wars, it was my first digital card game I was really hooked on. I played it a lot and eventually met a friend who I used to brew, play and chat with a lot.
Unfortunately after some poor management the game died. Since we mostly chatted about it with my IW buddy we stopped communicating. One day I was going through IW’s half dead forum and found a post which recommended Eternal (it was around Set 2).
I decided to give it a try and fell in love with it immediately. After a couple of weeks I decided to shoot an exciting message to my old TCG buddy and show him Eternal. We got really hooked on it again like it was those sweet times which were dead.
Even more we started to hang out in real life and play other games together as well! And here we are, 4 years later still playing Eternal, having fun and doing all kinds of good stuff.
2) Eternal made my card game dreams come true. Back in early 10’s I used to casually play paper MTG. I really enjoyed it but I always wanted more (playing drafts and good competitive decks). The thing is I was broke as hell so I never managed to do either.
Thanks to Eternal, I finally was able to start playing drafts and play competitive decks. I never thought I could get the same experience (prob even better) for like 100 times cheaper.
3) Eternal has a wonderful community. We’ve got a lot of creative deck builders, content creators, twitch streamers and the overall level of friendliness is pretty high. Almost no toxicity *cough* Ilya *cough* compared to HS
4) Eternal helped me a lot with fighting my anxiety and depression. When I started playing I was feeling almost suicidal. And I remember how happy I felt when I met nice people in this community and figured I was actually worth something later.
If anybody struggled from serious continious depression they’d probably understand my point - it’s really hard to find something in your life that’d bring you some joy and keep you interested at least for a while. Eternal was that thing to me and I’m still super grateful for it.
5) I actually like how DWD treats their playerbase. While there are some things we can discuiss (questionable card designs, lack of marketing) I think they’re doing a very good job: constant content releases, official tournaments, fun events, nerfs are usually on point.
And what’s most important is I see they care. They listen to the community. And yeah like I said above there is room for improvements, but overall in my opinion they’re doing quite well. If anyone happened to know Lightmare Studios... you know :/
