I ran for DPEC and Won, after an unfair endorsement meeting last year.

Last year when I ran for state senate I went before the local Democratic Party for an endorsement meeting. I was not asked any questions about my plan for Senate District 15.
I wasn’t asked what policies or platform I supported. I was asked why are you running. Since they didn’t ask about the issues I made sure to talk about them.
You see I don’t have a problem with not getting the endorsement, members of the board can vote for who they choose to support. Still we must know what candidates are going to do when elected. That’s what endorsements should be about. Not about if you’re “dogmatic”.
I’m actually just passionate and I won’t apologize for it. We’ve lacked passion in our public officials. We’ve lacked policy that creates change from our public officials.
I even had a public official who is now running for mayor of Baton Rouge pass out the other candidate’s material to the board while I was speaking. I didn’t react. I didn’t lose my cool. I waited for the opportunity to join the body and go make change.
Let this encourage you, when people disrespect you. When they attempt to derail you, don’t get mad — get to work. We’ve got work to do, and change to make. #LetsGoHigher #KeepPushing & thanks again to the 16,200 voter and all those who supported in various ways. Let’s go to work!
