My 15th Sunday in a row with a themed movie marathon. This time: “Lovers on the Lam.”
I am the dumbest person alive for waiting this long to watch SUGARLAND EXPRESS. Every shot is just
MOONRISE KINGDOM’s super 16mm cinematography. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Week 16! This Sunday’s themed movie marathon is witches and vampires. I am going to risk getting roasted by admitting I picked these four partially because... I’ve never seen them.
😳😳😳😳😳😳😳😳😳😳😳😳😳😳😳😳😳😳😳😳😳😳😳😳😳😳😳😳😳😳😳😳😳😳😳😳😳😳 A+
I love how BUFFY only has interesting lighting when they’re trying to obscure a stunt double.
BUFFY isn’t a bad movie. It’s never boring. It’s an interesting contrast to the show. But every time she kills a vampire the body just lies there. There’s like 50 dead bodies in town with stakes in their heart. What do the cops think? Are they looking for a serial killer?
Well THE WITCHES OF EASTWICK is perfect and Nicholson whining about god creating women while projectile vomiting in a church is pure fucking cinema.
Week 17!
Q is so fucking good. This is the third time I’ve watched it in the past year and it’s never not super entertaining. Michael Moriarty’s performance is an all timer. It’s on Prime.
We watched PALE RIDER back on week 2 and it makes me wish Moriarty popped up in way more legit big budget classy movies.
Week 18! “I’m on a Boat” is the theme.
the post movie Zoom discussions are going well today
goddamn is MASTER AND COMMANDER the best movie???? I mean yeah sure there are better movies but it’s so good

also... lol
Captain Ron’s first scene in CAPTAIN RON is incredible cinema.
HUNT FOR RED OCTOBER is perfection and the cat and mouse scene with Jack Ryan and the cook is one of the most beautiful sequences in the history of movies. Jan de Bont! I really wish Sam Neill’s character got to see Montana.
WEEK 19?!?!? The theme is clear.
The song “Maniac” from FLASHDANCE was originally inspired by the Bill Lustig/Joe Spinelli movie and the lyrics were:

”He’s a maniac, maniac that’s for sure
He will kill your cat and nail him to the door”
100% true
I always say THE RED SHOES has the best cinematography in movie history but if I’m going to be honest the best looking movie ever is FLASHDANCE. Every movie should look it. This is what peak cinema looks like.

Or FLATLINERS. Every movie should look like FLASHDANCE or FLATLINERS.
The ONE PERFECT SHOT show should just be every shot from FLASHDANCE.
I’ve never seen a movie like TAP. It’s fucking great. Nick “Michael Meyers” Castle writing and directing a Gregory Hines vehicle. A stylish tap dance crime movie with elements straight out of old school musicals. Sammy Davis Jr. A young Savion Glover. You can rent it on iTunes.
STRICTLY BALLROOM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
oh my god
dude
Four minutes into STEP UP 2 and ignoring this franchise might have been the biggest mistake ever.
I am not live tweeting. It was paused. I would never.
The opening of STEP UP 2 is a bunch of people doing a surprise dance routine on a subway and then running away from the cops. On the news they call it a “terrorist attack.” I thought I was watching a movie about dance terrorist anarchists or something.

I was not.
It was a lot of fun...

...but it wasn’t that.
Week 20! Twenty weeks in a row! Sports movies!
An all caps PERFECT movie. Somehow it gets better and better as the years go by.
Great fucking movie. Spike turns a small character story into an epic. It’s crazy good and unlike anything else. Ray Allen really sells the internal drama of a character being pulled in a thousand different directions. Loved it.
Jason Bateman in DODGEBALL. Should’ve won an Oscar.
Lance Armstrong in DODGEBALL. Oof.
TIN CUP and BULL DURHAM are perfect movies. BULL DURHAM is better but like... they’re both perfect.
What a piece of shit https://twitter.com/benshapiro/status/996203561741500416
“What an ugly dog.” Don Johnson is so good.
BULL DURHAM = perfect movie
WHITE MEN CAN’T JUMP = perfect movie
TIN CUP = perfect movie*

*but some of the songs are fucking terrible
My tweets prior to Week 15 aren't in this thread so I'm including them here for the tiny amount of people who have asked...
Week 21! Revenge is a dish best served with... four courses. Sorry. Sorry. I haven’t had coffee yet.
Wow. That movie is a LOT. The pickle jar. Pam Grier in a bar fight with dozens of lesbians. Sid Haig flying planes.

"This is gasoline!"
"You know it, motherfucker!"
FOXY BROWN also features one of the most important rules of cinema: If the lead character tells you to get out of town and you don't... you will not survive the movie.
A TAKE HOTTER THAN HELL ITSELF: 9 TO 5 rules but the fantasy sequences feel like a different movie.
The cinematography in Tony Scott’s revenge. Can’t remember the last movie that looked this good.
Also: The fucking costumes.
Week 22????
The first movie of our "Playing with the Boys" marathon was THE OUTSIDERS. It's fucking fantastic. The cast. The filmmaking. I now understand several lines I've heard quoted a bunch. "Stay gold, Ponyboy." "Let's do it for Johnny!" I need to see the longer version now.
This was @Uhnet’s pick. I chose movie 3 and 4.
is this a meme
