info thread on meteor showers/celeste

disclaimer: this is really just based off what i know, if you see any incorrect info, please lmk!

1. if you still don't know how to wish: when you hear a shooting star, put away your tools, look up at the sky with your right joystick, and press A before the star disappears.

2. light meteor showers happen pretty often, depending on your weather seed. in fact, when celeste shows up, you actually have a meteor shower, and are guaranteed to have stars at some point throughout the night.

3. heavy meteor showers are much rarer depending on your seed. isabelle will have an announcement and your villagers will mention shooting stars when you talk to them.

4. the first time you wish on stars during each astrological season, you will have fragments from that corresponding sign (aries, cancer, leo, etc) show up on your beach the next day.

5. the first time you talk to celeste during each astrological season, you’ll get the DIY for that sign’s piece of the zodiac set (aries rocking chair, pisces lamp, taurus bathtub, libra scale, etc)

6. if you see her again and you’ve already gotten that sign’s zodiac DIY, you’ll get one of her normal celestial DIYs (crescent moon chair, starry wall, moon, etc.)

7. once you've collected all her normal celestial DIYs, she'll give you star fragments instead!

8. the following day after wishing on stars, ~10 fragments will show up on your beach at one time. time travel/wait an hour or two and another 10 will be on your beach.

8a.((you will only get as many star fragments as how many shooting stars you wished on the previous night, up to 20 or 40 depending on the circumstances))

9. when wishing by yourself on your own island or while visiting, keep in mind that only 20 star fragments will show up on your beach the next day. ((so if you stay on someones island and wish on like 80 stars you wont get all those fragments sorry ))

10. however, you can get way much more when you got visitors! you get 1 bonus star fragment for every 5 wishes a visitor makes. you could get up to 20 max bonus star fragments from visitor wishes.

10a. ((so hosting lots of people for showers is best if you want to maximize the # of star frags you get!! you can get up to 40 fragments from 20 of your own wishes + 20 bonus fragments!! )))

so now you're wondering, 'when tf is my island going to have stars? what the hell is a weather seed?'

12. your weather seed determines the pattern of your weather and is randomly chosen at the creation of your island. so no matter how many times you travel to a certain day, it will always have the same weather pattern.

13. what does this got to do with stars? well your weather seed determines when you get meteor showers! once you find yours you can basically time travel to all your heavy meteor shower and aurora borealis nights!!

14. you can use this website, https://wuffs.org/acnh/weather/  created by @_Ninji to find your weather seed! it took me about 2 weeks of in game days to find mine.

15. when using meteonook, make sure to note the weather at the top of the hour (XX:00), because at 1:30 you'll get weather mixed with 1:00 and 2:00's weather.

(((you could use your in game screenshots to find your seed, but it didn't work for me so i don't recommend doing that LOL)))

16. once you find your seed, you'll find that you may get more than one meteor shower in a week. celeste won't show up each shower, but she will pick a random meteor shower day that week to visit. (thats why you might not see celeste even though you have shooting stars))
