With the dramatic increase in friendship-loss (online or otherwise) among members of the #ChurchofJesusChrist of Latter-day Saints over politics, we're approaching a day where polarization will cause members to move out of wards to avoid a bishops/leader. 1/

#HearHim #DezNat
We cultivate the influences coming into our homes, so it's a common sentiment.

Leaders spend time preaching, talking to youth, planning activities, etc. How would opposing views affect my family?

Does political difference merit drastic change? 2/
Maybe.

I assume Peter was more annoyed that Matthew joining the 12 than Judas.

Even today, I'm amazed how different the members of the 12 are and how they center on the spirit and will of the Lord despite these varied ideas and backgrounds.

Decisions are unanimous. 3/
I can't remember the political views of past bishops I've had necessarily, but mine today is opposite me on the spectrum.

And I'll tell you that he is surely the man called of God to lead my ward today as I've sat with him through many meetings. 4/ #HearHim
My last decision for counselors left me with a feeling to call someone with VERY different opinions.

His uniting, friendly tone was instrumental in the building of something great.

He expressed his views intermittently, but it was the right thing for me and the group. 5/
We won't need political philosophy when the Savior returns, and polarization can't exist in Celestial ward boundaries, so this is a test for our day.

This is another reason why I'm a #SecondComing Accelerationist.

In the meantime, what do we do? 6/
The best experiences I've had with local leadership are with those focused on the work and serving the one. I would likely not even know or ask about front yard election signs, because that wouldn't come up in conversation. 7/
And my AP US Government teacher for two years in high school made it a point to teach all his students WITHOUT unveiling who he ever voted for.

(This is a unicorn event). 8/
Here's my advice as a nobody on Twitter:

1 - #Pray right now to know if you're where the Lord wants you to be. His answer will alleviate your worries and give you confidence to lift where you stand. And if it's a negative response, go find the place where He wants you. 9/
2 - teach your children in your home correct principles. They are the most precious investigators.

3 - continue to study the scriptures and build your own political philosophy around words of the prophets. We're going to need the power of the #BookofMormon more and more. 10/
And lastly, please contribute your opinions and thoughts to this thread. We'll need week kinds of help to navigate these times full of dissention, verbal attacks and confusion.

Let's see meet up at the Tree of Life. Come unto Christ and #FollowHim. End/
