When you remember that during pride month everyone makes videos and blog posts etc recommending queer books, they’re everywhere! Well, guess what, it’s the last week of July which is Disability Pride Month and there is *cricket noises* from the book community

I genuinely have not seen a SINGLE recommendation video/post for books with disability rep... not ONE! And I guarantee that the ones that have posted are the disabled people who have to work our asses off just to get y’all to read one book with disability rep 2/
20 fucking % of adults are chronically ill/disabled, far more than are queer! And yet I have not seen the book community make even the tiniest bit of effort to diversify their reading when it comes to disability! 1/5 of adults and y’all can’t read one book about it? 3/
The same goes for the effort that goes into reading books written by and about POC (not saying we shouldn’t make an effort to do that) but I haven’t heard a booktuber talk about the need for disability rep even ONCE 4/
I’m so fucking sick of being ignored, I am so damn tired of it always being down to disabled people to do ALL of the work to advocate for ourselves. I am BEGGING the people who have a platform to use it... please... I’m so tired of being erased from the entire community. 5/5
