From a thread of resources for people struggling with #OCD: some great book recommendations!

I wanted to add a few more recommendations of my own to this very important list.

The following recs are mostly #OwnVoices MG/YA titles. https://twitter.com/shiraisinspired/status/1287134314166198272
Some great #OwnVoices #OCD books:

OCDaniel by @WesleyTKing

The Edge of Anything by @NoraWritesBooks

History is All You Left Me by @AdamSilvera

Cookie Cutters and Sled Runners by @NatalieRompella

Planet Earth is Blue by @NicWritesBooks
Some great #OCD books that are also possibly #OwnVoices?

The Someday Birds by @SallyJPla
- The #autistic main character is #OwnVoices, since Pla is an #AutisticAuthor, but I'm not sure if the OCD is also from Pla's real life experience.

The Weight of Our Sky by @YesItsHanna
These books are all beautiful, unflinching representations of Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, and I highly recommend them for anyone who wants to learn more about #OCD, or for anyone with OCD who wants to know that they are not alone in their suffering.

#RepresentationMatters
Please recommend any other great #OwnVoices #OCD books that you know of, and do let me know if I misrepresented any of these titles as #OwnVoices when they are not.

Thank you!
P.S. There's a bit of overlap between #autism and #OCD!

"Studies indicate that up to 84 percent of #autistic people have some form of anxiety; as much as 17 percent may specifically have OCD. And an even larger proportion of people with OCD may also have undiagnosed autism..."
I've personally been diagnosed with Autism and Generalized Anxiety Disorder, but there are definitely moments when I think my anxiety might be more OCD. I had a lot of unrelenting, distressing thoughts and rituals as a kid. CBT as a young adult helped me get them under control...
...but there are still moments when the intrusive thoughts pop up again, and I have to try to reason them away (or give in to rechecking or recleaning or some other compulsive action).

All of which is to say that books about OCD are very important to me as an autistic librarian!
