From a young age, children need to be taught about the principle of reaping what they sow, and how decisions build on one another.

I’m tired of people whining about the consequences of their own terrible choices, as if they were somehow forced to squander their time and talent.
Maybe you don’t have the life you want bc you majored in something stupid, refused to work your way up, and expected a 6-figure job at 21.

I’ve heard from several hiring managers about the insane salary expectations of recent college grads. It’s unbelievable.
Maybe you’re unsuccessful bc instead of investing your time into learning new skills, you spent it making socialism videos on tik tok in the hopes they’d go viral.

Maybe you’re an uninteresting person bc you wasted time whining about other people instead of getting better.
Also, we need to be careful about saying things like “the teen and college years are for making mistakes.” Some of those “mistakes” can have lifelong consequences and completely alter the trajectory of your life.
The teen and college years are for strategizing and deciding what you want and how you will get there.

Help kids understand that they can set themselves up for success by making thoughtful choices, and working toward goals.
Obviously we all make mistakes, but so many people waste those incredibly important teen/college years tearing down building blocks that could propel them into success.
